The youngest of 8 children, Charlie grew up in St. Albans, Vermont before the family moved to Brownsville where he attended Woodstock Union High School and was active in sports, performing arts and student government.  After graduating in 1982, he enrolled at the University of Vermont, receiving his BA in Political Science, and was a member of the alpine ski team and president of the student government.  

Charlie has had successful careers in Vermont over the past 40 years in commercial banking, art licensing and publishing, and software publishing while also managing the operations of his wife's retail business(s).  He currently works with his son rehabilitating residences for sale or rental.  

In the community Charlie has founded and organized running and cycling events as well as coached skiing and soccer.  He has served on more than 20 non-profit and municipal boards across Vermont, including being a founding member of the Woodstock Economic Development Commission.  In 2016 Charlie was elected to the Vermont State Legislature as a Representative for Woodstock, Reading and Plymouth and is seeking reelection in 2026.  

Charlie and his wife, Carolyn, live in Woodstock, where they raised their three children.
